Controlled Assessment Tasks

These are written and practical assessments set by the exam board.  They are completed in Year 11 on a variety of topics and pupils gain the skills, knowledge and understanding in year 10 in order to carry out these tasks independently.  These tasks take 45 hours to complete and require the design and development of a Food Product to be planned, made, presented, tested and evaluated.

Pupils will have one written exam at the end of Year 11.  The exam is 1 hour and 30 minutes and is not tiered, all pupils sit the same exam and can achieve A*-E grades.

Practical work accounts for a large proportion of the pupil’s coursework and all pupils must complete practical work to a high standard, demonstrating a range of skills.  All pupils will be expected to provide their own ingredients and organise themselves appropriately to ensure that all practical work is completed.
