  • Wednesday 15 February 2023 Year 7 National Careers Challenge Year 7 took part in the National Careers Challenge with The Inspirational Learning Group yesterday. They were set various tasks to sell hydrogen fuel to a large local company and explain the benefits of this change. All pupils did amazing and especially those who were selected to make a presentation. The winning group will be able to attend the National Finals at the NEC Birmingham later this summer. Well done to everyone.

  • Wednesday 30 November 2022 Geography Department Quality Mark 2022 Congratulations to the Geography Department on being awarded the Secondary Geography Quality Mark yet again - a status they have held since 2009! Thank you particularly to Mr Best for putting together the bid. Included are some photos of Year 9 from earlier this term doing some Geography fieldwork in excellent spirits despite the weather!
  • Friday 25 November 2022 Odd Sock Day 2022 Most importantly, Odd Socks Day is designed to be fun! It’s an opportunity to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique!
  • Tuesday 22 November 2022 Loudmouth Presentation An external company called loudmouth have presented to all year 8 about relationships, as part of the learning for life programme. The loudmouth team who delivered the session have complemented the pupils on their behaviour and attitude towards the session. Well done year 8 and I hope you found the session informative.
  • Friday 11 November 2022 Year 9 World Trade Day Year 9 took on the role of trading nations on Friday as they competed in the Geography World Trade Game. Their goal was to manufacture, trade and sell products, overcoming obstacles that were put in their way. This was to simulate how the world economy works. Well done to all Year 9 for their enthusiasm.
  • Friday 11 November 2022 Year 8 National Careers Challenge The Inspirational Learning Group delivered the National Careers Challenge with our Year 8 pupils on Friday 11th November. Pupils had to design an aeroplane of the future. There were some amazing design and imaginative ideas created on the day however, there could only be one winning team who will go to the National Finals in July 2023. Well done to team Blue 2
  • Thursday 10 November 2022 Year 9 Army Careers morning Thank you to the Army careers team who came to school on Thursday 10th November to talk to Year 9 pupils. They were able to look at some equipment, try on uniform and take part in a team task.
  • Thursday 10 November 2022 Year 7 Theatre visit - Bugsy Malone 180 music and drama students from Years 7-11 visited Manchester Opera House on Thursday 10th November to watch a touring production of 'Bugsy Malone'. Our students described it as "highly entertaining" and "really inspirational to see such talented young performers singing, dancing and acting". It was wonderful to take such a fantastic group of young people to the theatre to experience "real-life" performing arts. They Year 7s have also been learning to sing songs from Bugsy Malone, which they will be performing in the upcoming Christmas Concerts (Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th December - save the dates!).

  • Monday 24 October 2022 Greece 2022 During October Half term, 43 Yr10 and 11 pupils, accompanied by Mr Dodd, Mr Jones, Miss Stubbs and Miss Dalton, took part in the first Sports tour abroad to Greece. Pupils took part in netball or football fixtures against Greek opposition, a full day of kayaking/canoeing/swimming and a full day tour of Cultural sites in Athens. The group were fantastic in every single way and had a really enjoyable time. The weather was glorious with no clouds in sight for the majority of the week. Included are some pictures, with a more detailed write up included in the next newsletter. Current Yr 8s and 9s, look out for a letter on Firefly about the next opportunity to attend this Sports Tour.
  • Monday 10 October 2022 Year 9 Geography Fieldwork Year 9 did a great job of river profiling for their Geography fieldwork. Spirits were high even when the rain set in! Well done!
  • Thursday 29 September 2022 U14 Staffordshire Netball Fantastic news to hear that Yr 9 pupil T Thursfield has been selected to be part of the u14s Staffordshire Netball squad! All that hard work is paying off! Well done! ????

  • Tuesday 27 September 2022 Year 11 Geography Fieldwork Year 11 have dodged the showers in North Wales today to complete some Geography fieldwork.
  • Monday 23 May 2022 Theatre Trip - Mamma Mia Year 7 and KS4 Drama students were fortunate to attend The Regent Theatre to watch Mamma Mia last week. It was lovely to be able to take a large group of pupils out to the theatre and enjoy live entertainment again.

  • Friday 1 April 2022 Year 10 Industry Day Year 10 pupils took part in a whole year activity on Enrichment Day, which involved working with volunteers from industry. Pupils took part in a series of activities.
  • Friday 1 April 2022 Year 9 Keele University visit As part of the annual Enrichment Day, a selection of Year 9 pupils attended Keele University to learn about what it is like to study at university and have a campus tour.
  • Thursday 31 March 2022 Potteries Museum Local Architecture Workshop selected pupils who have opted for GCSE Art/ Textiles attended a workshop at the Potteries Museum based on local architecture.

  • Wednesday 2 March 2022 IET Faraday Challenge 2nd March 2022 Congratulationsto 6 Year 8 pupils who attended the IET Faraday Challenge at the Potteries Museum yesterday. They were tasked with creating a piece of equipment to aid children in hospital, crate a prototype and present their product to leaders and fellow competitors. Although they did not win, they had some some amazing ideas and we are proud of their achievement.
