Blackforest 2019At midnight on 24th October, 47 Year 10 pupils embarked on an 18-hour journey to the Blackforest area of Germany. The beautiful Hotel Renchtalblick was our base for the next few days. During our time there we enjoyed visits to Freiburg and Colmar, Strasbourg, Lake Titisee, Steinwasen Outdoor Adventure Park, bowling in Strasbourg, Chinese meal out in Offenburg, the world's best rated theme park for the past five years: Europa Park and also a surprise visit to the small Schwarzwald Zoo. We even fitted in a talent show with professional dancing, poetry, light-sabre attacks, comedians, group singing and dancing and E.Bennion's bench-pressing skills on humans.
Having already completed some preparatory language tasks prior to departure, the pupils were able to undertake some transactional tasks in French or German, as well as search for and find information about a variety of things in Freiburg or Colmar.
The pupils and staff all had a great time, but a special mention to a few:
Thanks to E.Griffiths for keeping the staff company at the front of the coach with her luminous and never-ending sickness on the journey down.
Thanks to M.Bedford for being the tidiest human we have ever taken anywhere - always stacking plates, glasses, cutlery and doing the job of five waiters! And, for bringing light sabres!
Thanks to A.To for single-handedly having the attention of about fifteen girls on the trip.
Thanks to Mr. Eastwood for making sure that B.Smith remained in a dust-free zone 😉
Thanks for the hide and seek skills of the balcony girls, except N. O'Grady who has the hiding skills of a zebra on a beach.
And finally, a memorable Happy Birthday gift to S.Jones, which nobody is likely to forget in a hurry.
Lots of happy memories made and the Blackforest left a lasting impression on all who attended.
