Music Technology Workshop at City of Stoke on Trent Sixth Form College
On Monday 3rd July, our Year 9 and 10 Musicians participated in a bespoke composition workshop; they travelled to the City of Stoke-on-Trent Sixth Form College with Mrs Reardon-Davies (DTL Music). The students worked with the Sixth Form College music tutor, and they used state-of-the-art computer software to produce their own compositions. Kate from Year 10 said "I enjoyed using the Macbooks and Logic X Pro. I composed my own motifs and then used different sounds and compositional devices to turn my melodic ideas into a short piece". Sam from Year 10 observed "I will take my experience from the workshop today and use it in my GCSE Music composition coursework. It was really enjoyable and useful for the future" while Iona said that "the workshop inspired me to compose more of my own music and allowed me to get an insight into what Music Production at a sixth form college would be like". Zac in Year 9 reported "I enjoyed making my own music and this helped us Year 9s to build a team as the class that we will be working in next year. I feel really good about starting my GCSE music studies!"
